How to Connect Dell XPS 13 Laptop to TV

Some users ask that how they can connect their XPS 13 laptop to the TV? It is because they want to play their favorite YouTube videos and iPlayer on the laptop and they want to display them on their TV. Well! It seems a hard nut to crack but not a flying pig. I am going to explain here how I do it whenever I want to display my favorite songs from my laptop to the TV.

You need to get “Dell adapter” for this purpose because it will not only include the “VGA and Ethernet” but also includes “HDMI and DVI.” You can search this adapter in the online stores like eBay and Amazon, and it will cost you £60. But some users do not want to spend this much money so; they can use a cheaper adapter from any local company rather than Dell. It will cost them only £20.01. Check this USB-C on Amazon(No affiliate link).

You can use it not only with your XPS 13 model, but also with XPS 15, and all of the latest models of ASUS and Lenovo Yoga 900 model. You do not need to connect it to the port of any other hub. Just connect directly to the adapter of the host device. Use your HDMI cable to attach with the adapter that will display your songs and videos on the TV screen. Don’t forget to enable the USB-C devices by using the DisplayPort Alternate Mode. Otherwise, it will not work.

How to Use It

Some people misunderstand that it is a “Plug & Play” device and they throw it when it does not work after plugging in. That is quite a wrong attitude. Let me explain what to do once you have plugged it into your computer.

When you connect this device with your XPS 13, you will see that your system has recognized it. It displays it as a “thumb drive.” Now it disappears.

Wait for a few seconds until it gives you a second appearance.

It will show you an application and ask you to install this app on your system.

Here, you need to use the instructions appearing on the screen to complete the installation process.

Once, you have done with it; you will be asked to reboot the system.

When the desktop appears after the reboot, you will see a mirror window. You can maximize the display if you like. Now it is ready to use.

Now try to display your desired video songs from YouTube or iPlayer on TV that is already attached to your laptop with the help of USB-C.

It worked very well when I was using Windows 8.1, and now I am using Windows 10, it again works fine.
